Firefighters Addressing South Wildfire in the Monongahela National Forest

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, West Virginia, November 23, 2016 – Firefighters continue to fight a wildfire discovered Monday, November 21, 2016 in the Big Draft Wilderness. The South Fire has grown to approximately 175 acres and is inching toward private timberlands to the south.  A helicopter is on site to support firefighters on the ground with aerial reconnaissance and water bucket drops.  Additional resources continue to arrive, including a 20-person hand crew, several fire engines and support staff. Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies Scheduled for November 22nd

Please join us Tuesday, November 22nd, for a community wide celebration! Appalachia Service Project (ASP) will be dedicating homes to flood affected families at newly built Grace Village (188 Chestnut St) in Rainelle at 10:30 AM. We will then continue the celebration in White Sulphur Springs and dedicate the first few completed and almost completed homes at Hope Village to Debra Nicely, Michelle Gay, Jimmie Scott, Martin and Linda Ervin, and Judy Yates.
