The Greater Greenbrier Long-Term Recovery Committee is excited to announce we will be hosting Disaster Case Management training on Thursday, August 11th, and Friday, August 12th, 2016. Elizabeth Disco-Shearer, COO of the Disaster Services Division of the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul, will lead both sessions. Training will be sponsored by West Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (WV VOAD).
Ms. Disco-Shearer has over 25 years of experience in leadership, governance, and regulatory compliance. She served as president of the Texas VOAD and experienced 19 disasters during her tenure, including Hurricane Ike, the Texas Wildfires, and the West, TX Explosion. In recent years, she has overseen the activities of a number of federal, state and national VOAD partner grants in the area of Disaster Case Management for various disasters across the United States.
Words cannot express how beneficial this training will be for our case management team. Ms. Disco-Shearer’s expertise in Disaster Case Management will equip them with the skills they need to best serve their friends and neighbors as we move towards long-term recovery.
Training will be two eight-hour sessions and take place at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV. Attendance is required at both sessions in order to achieve certification. Lunch will be provided for those in attendance. Registration begins Thursday at 8:30 AM. Space is limited – please email Ms. McCoy at secretary@ggltrc.org to reserve your spot today.
